Wot I've Seen

As requested, here's a list of all the ones I actually have seen, with comments where I had anything worthwhile to say.

1. The Shawshank Redemption - seen many times on TV etc. Great film, although the #1 spot seems a bit generous.
2. The Godfather - really genre-defining, and one of the six in the top ten that I own on DVD. (Or two DVDs in this case, on account of it being so damn long.)
3. The Godfather: Part II.
4. Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo. (1966)
5. Pulp Fiction - my favouritest film ever, have seen a good 50 times and I still laugh when Marvin gets shot in the face.
7. The Dark Knight - love comic book movies and this is the best of them by far.
8. 12 Angry Men (1957) - beautiful film, pure acting.
9. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - fair rating.
10. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back - I watched all 3 of the Star Wars trilogy last weekend at Kt's insistence. I had seen them when I was very young (I remember being really upset when Han Solo gets carbonited) but enjoyed watching them again.
11. Casablanca - got a bit boring to be honest.
12. Star Wars.
13. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
14. Shichinin no samurai [Seven Sumurai] - awesome film, saw a terrible quality download version and would like to rewatch sometime.
15. Goodfellas - I actually preferred this to the Godfather (I know, I'm a bad person). Viewing was slightly impaired by the girl who lived in the room below banging her chair on the ceiling. She denied it later.
16. Rear Window - one of the first Hitchcock classics that I watched, not sure I really appreciated it, but the cinematography is exceptional.
17. Cidade de Deus - another one that I downloaded unlawfully (OMG!) and was so good that I had to buy it.
18. Raiders of the Lost Ark.
19. C'era una volta il West.
20. Fight Club.
21. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
22. The Usual Suspects - underrated, would probably make my top 10.
23. Psycho - Among my favourite Hitchcocks, which I guess makes me a sellout mainstream noob.
25. The Silence of the Lambs - second favourite film EVAR.
27. The Matrix - used to watch this obsessively when I was about 13, and made an abortive attempt to translate it into Latin. I don't know why I did that, I had a self-imposedly strange childhood.
28. Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
29. Memento (2000)
30. North by Northwest - My favourite Hitchcock, should be rated much more highly.
32. Se7en (1995)
33. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
34. Citizen Kane - made it to the end of this, but it sure was dull. I understand the historical significance but watching a movie for just that reason seems rather like drinking unpasteurised milk.
36. Apocalypse Now - I think I stayed awake til the end of this.
37. American Beauty - very good. Also the top rated movie that includes boobies, I think.
40. Vertigo (1958)
42. Forrest Gump (1994)
47. Double Indemnity (1944) - really enjoyed this, has aged well.
48. To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) - OH GOD AWFUL. Child actors, hate hate hate.
49. Alien (1979)
50. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948)
51. A Clockwork Orange - Kubrick brilliance, another one I had to buy.
52. The Shining - see previous.
53. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
55. The Third Man (1949) - another one that has aged well.
62. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) - Underrated at #62.
63. Aliens (1986)
67. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
69. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
70. Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
71. El laberinto del fauno [Pan's Labyrinth] (2006) - One of the most beautiful films ever made, including the gruesome bits.
75. Rashômon (1950) - Hard work, I think I also watched a really bad translation.
82. The Prestige (2006) - Rubbish.
92. Full Metal Jacket (1987) - More Kubrick brilliance.
94. Back to the Future (1985)
95. The Great Escape (1963)
98. Sin City (2005) - Surprised this isn't higher, given the IMDB taste for cult movies.
101. Braveheart (1995) - Saw this on a plane. (No snakes.)
106. Batman Begins (2005)
107. Jaws (1975)
108. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
109. No Country for Old Men (2007)
110. Strangers on a Train (1951)
111. The Green Mile (1999)
113. Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) - My favourite of the three. I know, I know.
114. Blade Runner (1982)
115. Gladiator (2000)
120. Per qualche dollaro in più [A Fistful of Dollars] (1965)
121. Die Hard (1988) - Maybe my favourite action movie ever, everything is done just right.
124. Fargo (1996)
125. The Wizard of Oz (1939)
129. There Will Be Blood (2007) - A masterclass from DDL down at #129? Disgrace.
131. Donnie Darko (2001)
137. Ran (1985) - too long.
139. The Sixth Sense (1999)
140. Ben-Hur (1959)
144. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) - The Tarantino fanboi in me says this should be higher, but I can totally see why lots of people dislike it.
150. The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)
153. Life of Brian (1979)
156. Snatch. (2000)
161. Finding Nemo (2003) - I was forced to watch this, much to annoyance.
169. The Lion King (1994)
170. Trainspotting (1996)
178. V for Vendetta (2005)
180. Toy Story (1995)
186. The Princess Bride (1987)
187. The Incredibles (2004)
188. Twelve Monkeys (1995)
189. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
191. Children of Men (2006)
195. Duck Soup (1933)
199. Dial M for Murder (1954)
203. In Bruges (2008)
214. Rope (1948) - I watched this as 'background research' for my obsession with Psychoville, and it was well worth it. Another Hitchcock masterpiece that has aged really well (and it's in colour).
223. Crash (2004/I)
230. Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004)
237. Wo hu cang long [Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon] (2000) - actually my least favourite of the Hero/CTHD/House of Flying Daggers "series", but none of the others made the top 250.
238. Good Will Hunting (1997)
242. Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
